HORNBLOWER FANFIC Nereus
___________________________________________________________
Clayton’s Tale – Clayton writes his last letter
His Majesty’s Bad Bargain – A missing scene from the first episode,
from the seamen’s point-of-view
By the Way – A moment in Archie Kennedy’s history between the first and
third episodes.
In
the Night – A short
post-Muzillac story, in which Horatio has bad dreams. Written as background for ‘The Crisis’
Orders: a Renown vignette – Renown’s junior lieutenants debate
concepts of obedience
Women
Aboard – A semi-humorous
look at the title subject. HH3 period
amazingly enough
THE
DIVERGENCE SERIES
I’d always wanted to see some canon based stories
exploring how the friendship between Hornblower and Kennedy
might have developed if the writers
hadn’t killed Kennedy off, and finally I decided I’d have to write my own. In this universe nobody was convicted of
mutiny in Kingston and events are picked up a few months later….
Divergence – In which Commander Hornblower handles an old friend’s visit badly
Homeward Voyage –
After a battered brig limps into Portsmouth harbour Lt Kennedy has quite
a tale to tell
The Crisis –
Inspired by Forester’s unfinished Hornblower novel this story takes two
old friends back to Spain
on a dangerous
undercover mission which will change the course of history
KINGSTON
ALTERNATES
These are all different AU takes on the
court martial from HH2 and the fall-out from it….
Consequence – The dramatisation of what I wanted to happen
after the last scene of HH2
Bitter End –Exploring how slight changes to canon could have lead to
a very different ending. Angst and
character
deaths.
After the End – Sequel to Bitter End, in which the survivors must confront
the consequences of what has been done
A Kingston Carol –
A light hearted look at how some Christmas Spirit(s) might have changed the
course
of events for
the better
CHARACTER
EXPLORATION
Honour thy Father (I) – A piece of HH background set between the first two
series. Angst.
Honour thy Father (II) – Told from
the point of view of Richard Hornblower, Horatio’s son
The
Ghost – A short piece of weirdness, written originally for
Hallowe’en and featuring Admiral Hornblower
Draft script for HH4 – Exactly what it says on the label. Read at own risk!
